testing, testing... smashbox try it kit...

Smashbox is a brand I don't often browse the counter of if I'm honest. Although I've always wanted to try their primers I've never really taken any of the other products they offer into consideration, plus I always find the assistants at the counters a bit pushy and the primer isn't cheap at £25 if you aren't 100% sure.
This is where the Try It Kit comes in.

This has got to be one of my favourite Christmas presents this year (along with two new fishes) as it's perfect  for trying  before going full-size, plus, it's a perfect way to share a handful of the products with you. Each product is small, but don't be decieved as the primers take such a little amount I really do think they'll last a good while.

Firstly you get the famous Photo Finish Primer, the one product I wanted to try, and I must say it doesn't disappoint. This could be the best primer I've ever used. It's so silky and satin-y, and gives me such a smooth base for foundation, it ever blurs my pores better that Benefit Porefessional, my previous all-time favourite. Once this has run out I will definitely be purchasing it in it's full size, and as this tube has easily lasted since Christmas with plenty left, I'm thinking a big tube will last foreverrrrrrr (well a while anyway).
Next up is the only product I didn't fall in love with in the set, the Photo Finish Eyelid Primer. Although it does bring out the pigmention in your eyeshadows, it didn't keep my eyeshadow on or stop it from creasing in the way my trusty Urban Decay Primer Potion does. Still a nice product to try if you don't have an eye primer, but not one that will be on my shopping list I'm afraid.

I wasn't expecting anything out of the ordinary from the other products in the kit, simply because I haven't heard much about them, but boy are they more than average. The Onyx Eyeliner is so creamy and black, glides on and smudges into a smokey eye perfectly! It's very dark, which I love, but not one for the faint hearted. I was equally impresed with the Lip Enhancing Lipgloss (which tastes amazing too by the way), and as you can see is really sparkly. It gives a gorgeous plumping effect without any tingle and as it's pinky-clear it looks fab over lipsticks too, especially nude ones!

But the product I have loved the most from the set has got to be the Full Exposure Mascara. The primer was fab, yeah, but I expected that. But this, this is rivaling my Maxfactor False Lash Effect now. Small mascaras never seem to perform as well as their full size versions in my opinion, but this really gives volume and length, seperate lashes but in a natural fluttery way. For a more dramatic, going out look, I like to add a really black and wet (if that makes any sense) over the top once dry to add even more volume to the perfectly formed lashes Full Exposure creates. I'd urge everyone of you to try this mascara, even if just having a makeover at your local counter as it really has become a staple in my makeup routine.

The Try It Kit is quite a bargain at £19, and you can pick it up here (usually with free samples too)...

Lots of Love,
Charlotte
